Biography

Pete at the EndUp, San Francisco

Then 15, Pete Dafeet started DJing in the late 90s after messing around with Daft Punk and Jurassic 5 records on his cousin's decks. A rhythm freak since early age, he became fixated with house music and saved the money from his part time job to buy a wonky set of belt drive decks and a crackly mixer. Slowly but surely he started to learn the trade, and his tastes became focused on deep, underground house.

Four years on, and feeling constrained by his record collection, Pete set to work learning the basics of a computer sequencer. The first three tracker received plays from many a house jock; Yousef, Lottie and Jason Hodges were all fans of his debut EP which, thanks to a helpful tip-off from Phat Phil Cooper, was released on Shaboom offshoot Foot Fetish in April 2004.

After more production work for Shaboom and sister label Bosh starting his own label seemed to be the natural progression. So in 2004, whilst studying in Loughborough, Pete teamed up with local househeads Ian Straker and Nagajan Modhwadia to start Lost My Dog. In the eighteen releases since, Lost My Dog has established itself as one of the UK's leading deep house labels - Jay Tripwire, Nathan Coles and Greenskeepers have all featured, and the label was recently listed in iDJ as one of the "100 Reason's Why Dance Music Still Rules".

Pete's reputation as an artist and DJ is on the rise thanks to gigs with Diz, Rob Mello, and James Curd, and releases on Detour, Bosh, Lost My Dog, and Robsoul. Remixing the likes of Blakkat, Tony Thomas and No Assembly Firm along the way, he himself has been remixed by several of his biggest influences - Demarkus Lewis, Inland Knights, Fred Everything and the aforementioned Jay Tripwire.
